Already on the south side of the Ciovo peninsula, and especially on the south side of the island of Šolta, it is possible to enjoy diving on the beautiful stone walls overgrown with gorgonies that abound in marine life.
The most famous wrecks in the vicinity of Split are the wreckage “Pajo”, “Duba” and the unknown fishing boat in the waters of the peninsula “Ciovo”, then “Alcadija” near the islet of Kluda in the Trogir archipelago and the wreck “Ribolovac” near Stomorska on the island of Šolta and two wrecks along islet Mrduja, located between the island of Solta and Brac. One wreck is the ship “Meje” and the other wreck is a smaller 8 meter sailboat.
There are also several ancient sites where it is mostly ancient shipwrecks. It is possible to see sites of sinking that reveal mounds of pottery and remains of amphorae, as well as ancient sarcophagi in one locality on the island of Brac. Maritime traffic at that time was very significant.

The most famous caves are the Dragon Eye in the bay of Lucice on the island of Brac and the cave in the bay of Jorja on the south side of the island of Šolta. There are also several interesting tunnels and smaller caves, especially on the south side of Šolta.
It is also worth mentioning the very demanding Poganica Cave in the bay of the same name on the island of Solta, which, due to its configuration, is a maze from which it is very difficult to find a way out without special equipment, is not recommended for sports and recreational diving. The cave starts with a tunnel at 8 m and vertically descends to 20 m where there is an entrance to a large hall with several branches and tunnels reminiscent of a maze. Depth in some places is over 50 m and in some vertical tunnels, it is possible to see the outside light but it is too narrow to go out.
The time of year when diving activities begin is generally the beginning of the 4th month and lasting until the end of the 10th month.
Given that sea temperatures do not usually fall below 12 ° C in the winter months, it is easy to conclude that diving is possible throughout the year.
